September 14, 2010 6:30 PM “The Perfect Storm” - Depression, Anxiety & Chronic Illness Research has found the most people diagnosed with a chronic illness experience a roller coaster of emotions as they are forced to adjust to the new reality of their lives. Tonight we will focus on depression and anxiety. The evening will include an explanation of both depression and anxiety, including the signs and symptoms of both and the role that medications can play. We will also discuss the eight fears of chronic illness and the six emotional stages of chronic illness. The evening will wrap up with a discussion of coping skills that can help to adjust to the new reality. Presented by: Beth Marolt, a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

November 9, 2010 6:30 PM How Chronic Illness Effects Family, Friends and Workplace Relationships How Lyme disease is affecting your relationships with your spouse, significant other, children, relatives, friends, and co - workers. Do you find it difficult to meet expectations of others who think you look well when you feel so sick? A chronic illness can take on a life of its’ own and can make it challenging to maintain relationships and the expectations that were in place before illness set in. During the many cycles and stages of chronic illness family and friends are also affected and may end up needing their own support. They are also adjusting to the new reality of chronic illness and the changes that may occur including roles and responsibilities.
